First Goose Bumps!

We took Ollie to the beach yesterday afternoon. It was breezy and we were in the shade. If you look closely, you can see that Ollie's got ckicken skin!

Ring Sling Detail (Day 57)

Showing off my very uneven stitching. I wrapped the stitches, and that kind of makes them look like they are supposed to be uneven. :P

I made a ring sling :)

Last night I finished making this ring sling. I wanted a sling that I can adjust because Ollie is getting too big for me to be able to nurse him in my pouch sling. Also, the tail of a ring sling makes for a handy nursing cover.

I used the Maya Wrap sewing instructions to make my sling:

http://www.mayawrap.com/n_sewsling.php

Until a few months ago I had two sewing machines -- my mom's and my grandma's. Neither were working right, and they were so heavy and bulky and just in the way, mostly collecting dust. They smelled musty, too. So I ditched them. Therefore I ended up sewing my sling all by hand. Took three evenings... about 8 - 10 hours from start to finish.

@lilkenji Reads a Book (Day 55)

Another photo series of the day. Ollie hasn't really figured out how to manipulate the pages yet. But he knows what they taste like!

Pizza Dough for @alychee

Posting per @alychee's request.

For the flour, I've used all white, or all wheat, or most often a mixture of both. It changes the texture a bit but whatevahs.

Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Whisk together water, honey and salt in a warm Kitchen Aid mixer bowl.
  • Add yeast, whisk some more.
  • Add a cup of the flour, whisk some more.
  • Add the olive oil, whisk more more more.
  • Stick the bowl on your Kitchen Aid mixer, and mix on 2 using the dough hook. Add remaining flour while the dough mixes.
  • Mix the dough till you get a nice ball clinging to the dough hook. The ball of dough should wipe the sides of the bowl clean.
  • Add small-kine water and/or flour if necessary till you get that nice ball of dough.
  • Take the dough ball off the dough hook and put in a bowl greased with olive oil - let dough rise for about 45 minutes.
  • Punch the dough down. You can let it rise again or you can squish it out into the shape of your pizza.

Now you can put a bunch of crazy yummy stuff on it and stick it in the oven to bake. :)

Baby Pix!

Last night I dug out my baby pictures. Daddy and I agree that Ollie looks more like I did as a baby. But he definitely has inherited Daddy's round head and eye color. :)

Turkey Pesto Pizza (Day 50)

Ground turkey, homemade pesto, Hamakua tomatoes, mozzarella cheese on homemade honey wheat crust. Was pretty good. Ollie got scared and cried when I used the magic bullet thingie to make the pesto, so that wasn't so good. Poor li'l guy.

What we did while waiting for the doctor this morning

Ollie's 4 month checkup was this morning. He's 14 pounds 2 ounces (or is it 4? I forget already!) and has grown five inches since he was born. He's now a whopping 2'1". :)

He was such a happy boy at the doctor's office. We played tummy time, Little Bunny Foo Foo, and read Cat in the Hat. Then it was time for shots. Ollie was not happy anymore!

Actually, Ollie didn't scream and cry for too long. I had him snuggled on me in the sleepy wrap, and after a few minutes of pain, he fell asleep.

His doctor's office is at the mall, so we walked around a bit after the appointment. Mommy is tired of carrying a sleepy Ollie, so now we are just snuggling in the car, waiting for him to awaken before he goes into the car seat and we go home.

Mirror Mirror On the Wall (Day 40)

Ollie's new favorite thing to do is stand up on the couch and look into the mirrored wall that is behind it. Today he was flirting with Mommy, grinning and eating his hand (of course).

Lemme check out these here toys... (Day 34)

Ollie got some new toys that Daddy brought back from the mainland yesterday. He was really busy checking them out this afternoon. It's the first time Ollie's been so interested in rattle-type toys.
